Hi there!

This week we are using one of Master Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji’s messages as our weekly Newsletter. We thought it would be perfect for contemplation and discussion during the 45 days period of Anushthan.

Enjoy!

TOPIC FOR THE WEEK – Swamiji’s 2nd Anushthan message (Thursday 23/01/2014) Sadguru’s Discourse 2

My salutation to all pious souls.

Today I recollect that moment when I met a Muslim Fakir. He invited me to meet him only to tell me that ‘son whatever deed/act that you do first in your life please do so with utmost understanding and thought’. This is because whatever deed that you do first will determine the direction of your actions in the future. The first deed that you do is done by you and later on energies take over and do so through you. Positive energies are responsible for carrying out positive deeds whereas negative energies are responsible for carrying out negative deeds. Both these kinds of energies are constantly proactive in the surroundings. They cannot do anything on their own and so they are constantly looking for a medium. They have the will do deeds but do not have the means of a ‘Doer’ (Karta Shakti) or the means to act (Kriya Shakti). This is why they are constantly looking for a medium to complete their deeds.

If you are doing positive deeds then positive energies will be behind you and if you do negative deeds then negative energies will be behind you. That is why think clearly and consciously when you do your first deed. We do this first deed under the influence of the company that we keep. The people whose company we keep, we do our first deed under their influence. By company I do not mean the physical body. On which people is our attention (chitta)? Who is present in our chitta? All this has an influence on our very first deed.

That is why everything is dependent on where our chitta is. First our chitta is on something and then we start having thoughts and that gives us the inspiration to perform the deed and then the deed is performed. To progress in the ‘field of spirituality’, ones deeds are of utmost importance and the game of ‘Snakes and Ladders’ of one’s deeds continues through man’s various births and lifetimes. Moksha (state of Liberation) is the end of this game of ‘Snakes and Ladders’. But this evolution of the soul is a very big process.

A soul cannot attain moksha without a body and what comes along with the body are deeds (Karma). And the accounts of these Karmas continue and are kept within the Kundalini energy. It has accounts of both the good and the bad deeds and the evolution of the soul happens very very gradually. When one does good deeds and because of this one gets the company of the good, then the soul gets inspired to receive ‘anubhooti’(Experience). In one’s life if one is inspired to get anubhooti then in the next life he moves closer to anubhooti. In the next life if he once again does good deeds then he attains the ladder of progress. If the same speed of good deeds continues then he will meet a medium of god in the form of a Sadguru (Divine master) and then the soul receives ‘anubhooti’. It is the nature of the Sadguru to make one receive anubhooti. That is why he does not even see the capability of the person and makes him receive anubhooti. To receive anubhooti is not everything. After receiving anubhooti it is very necessary to realise what you have received. A Sadguru is like a stream of holy water that flows in a definite location, if one comes under it then one is bathed. Now whether you have any idea about ‘bathing’ or not, you are already bathed. This is because it is the basic nature of the stream to do so to anyone who comes under it. Similarly it is the basic nature of the Sadguru to make one receive anubhooti. But what is anubhooti and what is its importance? What do we do next? It is necessary to have that knowledge. I am recollecting an incident from the life of my younger son Ambareesh. Guruma had bathed him and his younger sister and had asked them to sit in a chair outside in the sun. She then got busy with cooking food. After sometime when she went out she saw him throwing mud on his sister’s head she was doing the same to him. This meant that even after the mother had bathed them, being a child he was not able to realise the importance of bathing.

This is exactly what happens. Sadguru makes one receive anubhooti but a human does not have the knowledge of what exactly is anubhooti because of his ignorance. Man in spite of receiving anubhooti wanders off. Firstly a Sadguru makes one receive anubhooti with much ease, this being his basic nature, but man is not able to understand the importance of this anubhooti that he has received so easily. Even after receiving anubhooti man remains disillusioned. Anubhooti is the path to Moksha reaching where, all of one’s karmas are over. But man’s bad deeds create barriers in his path and makes him disillusioned and he moves towards the game of ‘Snakes and Ladders’

Today remaining in isolation I am looking at all the Gurukarya that has been done through the medium of this body and finding what mistakes were done.

Sadguru’s state is like that of a mother. She wants her child to grow quickly and that is why she feeds the baby more milk than its capacity and the child suffers from indigestion.

Something similar has happened. Children due to their good deeds of their previous lives have come in my proximity and got caught up in the illusion (maya) surrounding my body and have become disillusioned. Deeds are done by the body, and the ‘I’ sense of the body whether it does good deeds or bad deeds, it is only the good deeds of their past lives that they have been able to reach the Sadguru. The number of people who came were in millions but they came because of the good deeds done by their physical body and that is why the ego of the ‘I’ sense was also present. In spite of coming in the proximity of the guru, due to the ego of their ‘I’ sense they got disillusioned by the maya of the Sadguru. In spite of receiving anubhooti they believed that it was ‘I’ who was so pious that I received this anubhooti. It is ‘I’ who is fortunate and increased his ‘I’ sense. In reality it is the basic nature of a Sadguru to make one receive anubhooti.

You are no one special. But it is because of your ‘I’ sense within you that you have assumed that you are someone special. Sadguru did your work, made you happy, made you cheerful and what you did is increased the ego of your ‘I’ sense that I am close to him, only I am special to him. But infact he showers his blessings on everyone, he does everyone’s work, he keeps everyone happy, and this is Sadguru’s basic nature. This is all maya that surrounds a Sadguru and this is what makes everyone disillusioned.

What is maya? It is to believe in that which does not exist. To believe that ‘I’ am someone special to the Sadguru whereas in reality it is in the basic nature of a Sadguru to shower blessings on everyone and when it is this web of delusion(maya) that many good sadhaks (spiritual seekers) and sadhikas were disillusioned that Gurushaktis have thought of a new solution for it. Deeds (Karma) are connected to the body no matter that they are good deeds; it is the physical body that has done the good deeds. So the ego of the ‘I’ sense will definitely be present. And if it is because of the good deeds that you have reached the Satguru and received anubhooti, even then you will be disillusioned by the maya of the Sadguru that I am a pious soul and that is why I have received anubhooti.

So firstly allow the soul sense that ‘I am a holy soul, I am a pure soul’ be established and then you receive anubhooti. Only then will this anubhooti bring about surrender towards the Sadguru and make you one with him. And the state of Moksha in which the Sadguru is will inadvertently be attained by you. The anubhooti of the divine (paramatma) can only be attained by being a soul. I pray to the divine that you all attain this divine state during this deep meditation anushthan. I send you lots of blessings.

Yours

Baba Swami.
