Newsletter #6, by Rajni (10 Jun, 2012)

JBS

Hey,

I have tried to follow the attached format for the Meditation Newsletter.

I have more quotations, but for some reason, I was attracted to these 3 quotations as I think the biggest difficulty for Sadhaks (including myself) is to surrender completely even after X years of practising Samarpan Meditation.

Hope this Newsletter is OK.

Thank you,

Take care’

Rajni

1. FOCUS for the week – Swamiji’s words of inspiration on Samarpan / Surrender

“Imagine that there is a bottle, filled right up to the top with dirty water. You visit a temple and bow down and a few drops of the dirty water are spilled. Then you bow down again, a few more drops are spilled. But the bottle cannot be emptied by spilling just a few drops here and there. As long as you don’t empty the bottle completely, pure and holy air cannot enter into it.

You may empty the bottle at any place — in front of a hill, or before a tree. If you wish you can even empty it before a stone. If you want, you can empty it before some person, before a donkey, before a horse, before a cow — empty it somewhere at least. Bow down completely, bow down completely!

You are throwing out the garbage when you bow. When you are throwing out your garbage, you don’t need to decide whether you will throw it in a green colored dustbin or a red colored dustbin. In exactly the same way, just surrender yourself somewhere, anywhere, but surrender completely. And wherever you surrender yourself, you will become completely pure. As soon as your bottle becomes empty, it will be filled automatically with sacred air. You don’t need to do anything, just empty yourself.”

” I call “Samarpan” that state when you have no thoughts either of the past or the future. The day you reach such a state, you will have total “Samarpan”. You will be free of surrendering to the past, past illnesses, bad incidents, and bad people of the past. When you succeed in wiping out the poison of the past, you will be completely empty. The urn filled with nectar is right within you and you will experience the scent. First of all it is necessary to remove the poison within you. The meaning of “Samarpan” is that you should not get any thoughts of the past.”

Surrender your past to me today. If you succeed in doing so, you will have a grand tomorrow. Surrendering you past will prevent thoughts; and cessation of thoughts leads to deep meditation. Once you reach that state, all your problems will end.

H.H. Swami Shivkrupanand

    Jai Baba Swami!

In the past 2 years I have kept asking Swamiji incessantly! 😉 : 'please show me how to surrender', 'please show me what surrender is'…

it might not be evident from one day to the next, but slowly, like a flower blossoms, one starts feeling more and more surrender. Like Swamiji says, it is not something we can do, but through our feeling it happens… we just need time and patience!

When we get an anubhooti (experience) during meditation, or during the day, we need to hold on tightly to that, and focus our attention on it, rather than on what we lack, our problem, our thought, remember that we have been given glimpses of security, of the divine, so we need to worryless and trust less. The more we thank our anubhooti or just the good feeling we get through meditation the more it will be, and surrender grows too.

    Jai Baba Swami

    Dearest Denise,

you are absolutly right. We can´t overcome time. We have to wait passiently and with anabhooti (experience) our feelings toward Swamiji will increase an we´ll surrender automatically more and more.

Hold on and replaying good feelings that we have had with him. Like Swamiji is saying, that he replayes the time of Gurupoornime with his Guru´s every minute from the year.

    Have a blessed day

As I already said today on our skype session lines taken from book 'Samarpan Yog of The Himalayas' and written below of Swamiji's surrendering to His Gurudev influenced me so much that just after reading it my tears began falling…

And according to William 'these just too good not to be shared with others' 🙂

Please here they are, page 233:

'…Gurudev, which high peak are you talking about reaching? I can't understand it. You want me to reach the place you couldn't. I want my ego desintegrate here and I want you to reach that high peak. I wish that my life should come to an end, not yours. Please give me blessings Gurudev, that from today I may live not as "I" but as you. Today I'm surrendering my total existence at your feet. From today let each breath that I take be according to your wish, and let every moment of my life be spent in your presence. From today, I should die and you should remain alive. From now onwards, only you should remain in life. Please end my "I" sence. From today I will live my entire life in your form. Today I am surrendering my "I" sence to you. People offer flowers to Paramatma, but I'm surrendering my ego to you. Please accept everything".

Aren't these lines so pure and beautiful?

    Lots of love,
    Victoria

Victoria, they are beautiful words indeed. There are so many parts in the book, specially when Swamiji talks to His Gurudev which such love and tenderness that they have also brought a tear or two to my eyes! 😉 When I experienced this I felt this was a feeling at the soul level, a love never experienced before, the love that our soul connection with meditation brings about.
