TOPIC FOR THE WEEK – Introducing Samarpan Meditation in Brazil
I will start by quoting these recent words of Swamiji during Gudipadva: “Guru-karya is like the saying – ‘Be virtuous and throw it into the sea’ (don’t keep track of your good deeds) – because we are doing it for our self-satisfaction and not to make a show of it. Self-satisfaction is our personal experience. ‘fame’ and ‘exhibition’ are ways of taking one’s chitta(Attention) outside. Perform Guru-karya only because you enjoy doing it or else sit quietly at home and purify your chitta and mature it.”
A little over a year ago me and my husband Carlos encountered Samarpan Meditation by one of those “universe coincidences”, we walked straight into the Montreal center claiming we want to learn to meditate! Kumar kindly welcomed us and told us we should first learn about it and participate in an explanatory workshop, but he did let us meditate that day anyway in front of the murti. We knew nothing about meditation and even less about the concept of a guru. But that same day we felt an immediate connection, and we knew right away this was only the beginning of meditation in our lives.
In this short time we were blessed with an amazing opportunity of Guru-Karya, spreading the knowledge (prachar) of Samarpan Meditation to our family and friends in Brazil. Although we have been only meditating for about a year we did feel that it was the most wonderful gift we have received in our lives and that we more than happy to share it with everyone.
We decided to go for it, surrendering ourselves knowing the guru energies would take care of everything. We had no major expectations and would be happy with any results that came from it. Everything started to fall into place and little by little it took form. Denise from Peru was visiting Brazil at the same time, which was just perfect since she already has the experience of introducing Samarpan Meditation to a new country, and she kindly took the lead on the day of the workshop. The venue could not be more perfect, a yoga studio (Namaskar Yoga) where pregnant women are the biggest audience. Thanks to my wonderful mother who worked as a bridge for us and to Adriana Vieira who accepted to give us her space for this guru-karya.
It went so well, and people were so receptive to it that we even held a second workshop after two weeks. To our joy many of the people who attended for the first time came back to share their experiences as they have been meditating regular since.
Personally I could not be happier, not only Swamiji has blessed us with this opportunity of Guru-karya to the community of Santos, Brazil but he has also brought Samarpan Meditation to the lives of my family. Both my parents and my brother have been meditating regularly and are happy with the benefits they have been feeling thus far. It also touches my heart that this year which Swamiji calls the “Year of the Doctor” both my parents, who are doctors are now meditating and have introduced it to another handful of colleagues who are also meditating.
I am sorry if this is a big extensive, but the words just kept flowing effortlessly. I thank the guru energies for all their blessings and wish for the Samarpan family to spread to every corner of the world!

If anything to say, it’s…

Lovely Beatriz :))
It would be great to know how meditation is affecting the life of your parents, as doctors. Maybe in the near future they can write a short testimony of how their work as doctors has been affected/influenced? would be really interesting and rewarding to know!
May your and Carlos’ soul keep helping to light up the beautiful country of Brasil :)))

Very wonderful and warm.also second denise’s comments. It is so wonderful to see this coming to Brazil. Maybe if you’re interested, some of us have been wanting to have an inter-follower web conference where sadhaks from different parts of the world could “see” one another in action or sharing what it’s like in their part of the world somehow.

That is really lovely ,my dear soul mates
I am in Goa India and feels so close to you all across the continents
Swamiji has made it happen for all of us
The spiritual experience (Anubhuti) attracts each one- and that is the essence of Samarpan meditation
Our test lies in sustaining and practicing the meditation with regularity and also in collectivity- We cannot force another Anubhuti just like that.
Everything happens in His compassion and with His divine blessings
Love to all
Hemant
