Newsletter #21, by Anna (28 Oct, 2012)

Hi guys,

Jai baba Swami to my sweet Samarpan friends! Most of you probably know me. Some of you I haven’t met in person yet, though it feels like I know you allready as I have been tuning into the lovely JCO sessions over last couple of weeks.

Usually on Wednesdays when you guys have your chat, I am comuting back from work so to save your ears from some serious background noise-I’ ve been joining in “the listen only” mode.

So this week I just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone and share some of my ponderings about the Soul stuff and Collectivity. So here it comes…

TOPIC FOR THE WEEK – THE JOY OF COLLECTIVITY

Before I joined Samarpan meditation, there was an increasing feeling that there is something more to life than society teaches us. Material world was allright; it just wasn’t enough. Something was fundamentaly missing. Something vital. That one element that would help to make sense of everything. Who am I? What is this life about? How are we meant to live it?Why things are the way they are?

And so my quest began. Spiritual books were interesting but didn’t give me any experiences. I had some facinating chats with intelectuals about spirituality, but inspiration would ran out very quickly…

So it was a choiceless choice, I had to respond to that inner calling and literally travel accross the world to discover Samarpan meditation and later find myself in India meditating with thousands of people, during a live shibir. Then something crazy happened. My Soul awoke! All the inernal dots connected and my questions got anwered. Just like that. What wasn’t possible through years of “seeking” using my own efforts, just happened over a split second in collectivity. In the presence of Grace that those thousands of people established due to their Meditation practice, something shifted within. Don’t know exactly when it happened, but subtly all the burdens, sorrows and thoughts I was carrying around just dissapeared.

This original experience +regular meditation gradualy freed me up of all the mental clutter and paved a way to experiencing life in way I never imagined was possible.

Prior to the positive and negative, spiritual and material, happiness and pain-there is natural joy, satisfaction and a sense of freedom. Everything is welcome and nothing appears to be a problem.

I am sure that all of you guys share similair stories to mine. My Soul’s experience is yours.

And so you’ll know that the real “fun” begins after our 50 seconds of “enlightment” or (7 days, if you’ re in Samarpan), ran out and we have to come back to material world and live amongst ordinary people, deal with modern life’s every day stress and situations. And although living like at the Soul level is the most natural thing, we almost have to come back to basics and teach it to ourselves again (whatever age we are). Our spiritual experience then has to get rooted in the real life and stand the test of time. And that process of integration can seem quite tricky at times.

For the way this world currently is,it almost educates us out of our Souls. Many people live under the slogan “less for you is more for me” type of a thing, are quite disconnected and because of fear they act like sheep. Whether we like it or not we get influenced by our surroundings more then we’d like to think.

And it takes a real courage to live authenticaly at the Soul level, if it’s not what everyone around us does.

That’s were collectivity comes in. When we “hang out” with awekend people our spiritual progress happens efortlesly. It gives our Soul divine energy. And in that light the impossible becomes possible. What seemed an obstacle before does not seem to have any grip on us anymore.

In collectivity this magic happens, and I don’t really care how exactly it works, but I know it does. Just take a look at the light in peoples eyes from one of our pictures from St David’s reatreat and it becomes apparent.

There is this Grace when we get together at the Soul level and it has capacity to tranform a human being from within in most remarkable anmd unshakable ways.

Our own love is almost not enough. We need the whole ocean of it that is experienced in collectivity to disolve the influence of our ego and set us free to experience life as it’s inteded to be. Sacred.

There are certain limitations we have as individuals but collectivity gives our Soul that extra boost of energy to overcome everything!Therefor gone are the days of solitary meditation. Those brave ones who wish to go all the way-collectivity is the path! And the journey’s so much more fun when shared.

That’s why I love our retreats and get togethers. And that’s why I love the JCO sessions.

When it comes to the middle of the week and wether’s rubbish, and work’s manic and the world seems a bit less shiny then before-we connect at the soul level and it’s like “coming home”. Apart from the fact that we don’t even need to go anywhere anymore to experience this. I am so grateful for the modern technology and harworking friends who know how to work it, to make it possible for all of us to share that sacred space. We’re onto something really special and unique here.

And the only effort that’s required of us is just to stay tuned in.

Thank you everyone-you’re my joy and inspiration.

Will say goodbye with words from one of my most favourite poems. If Rumi would be around, he’d hang out with us in Samarpan.

“Out beyond the ideas of right and wrong doings
There is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the Soul lies on that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language even phrase each other
Does not make any sense anymore”.

All my love,

Anna xx

Anna, what beautiful and inspiring words you have shared with us. Your newsletter has captured the essence of what JCO is all about to its very core – indeed your story is our story because we have all taken birth in the material world but through our own tribulations and courage, we have found our way to the Light. I am sure everyone agrees that the journey to get to meet the Satguru hasn’t been an easy ride but hey, I am sure everyone also agrees that every second of it has been worthwhile…and when you get at the top of the mountain, everything becomes perfection.
Thank you once again for sharing these words with us – it is a real privilege to walk the path with such beautiful group of people.

Anna, thanks for this lovely piece. It is a joy to share this path with you and all our other Samarpan brothers and sisters. I know some of you, others I know only through here. But at the soul level the joy and love is the same, and with a ‘Jai Baba Swami’ our smiles know that we are one and we are able to look beyond the material. We don’t see people with their outer appearances; our chitta sees further than that, and we can sense our souls. We are ‘home’, finally.
As you say Anna, we can now do this journey in collectivity, oh how lucky we are to have been born now, and be here, part of Samarpan meditation and family, to go through this path together.

Thanks again for sharing with us. Lots of love xx

Oh my dear Anna, I have read Rumi for the first time yesterday.
Every single day I see signs of the deep connections that are rooted in Collectivity, and I get amazed every time it happens.
My gratitude to Swamiji for bringing us together is immense, and every day I take a moment to express that gratitude.
And I feel the same, all the answers have been answered, and there is no need to ask any new ones.

    Jai Baba Swami Anna
Yes the journey has been similar for all of us so we all resonate with these eloquent words and feel the blessiing of collectivity that we all share; it strengthens us, it inspires us, it gives us the joy of a spiritual family, and it helps to iron out our egos and deveops a deeper surrender;)
    With deep peace Sophxxx

Anna, thank you for that soulful piece of writing. It really resonated with me. I too was searching through books and tried other meditation practices but still felt spiritually “stuck”. The rest of my life was going well but I felt that I was here for a higher purpose and I hadn’t been able to connect with what that was. The very first time I attended a Samarpan Meditation session I knew I had found my path. Since being brought together with the wonderful people in the JCO group, I really feel a momentum growing. There is a magic in this collectivity! I will be away the next two weeks and will really miss our sessions. Thank you for the poem by Rumi…..another reference to lying down in the grass…..my favourite pastime!

    My Dear Anna,

Thank you so much for this newsletter…

Chérie, you managed to put in words what we…I think… all feel right now.
I was at work when I read it and my whole body started shaking/vibrating, cold vibrations everywhere except my heart chakra, I could feel a warm sensation in my heart, something soothing. And yes I couldn’t concentrate after this :)! I was in a different world.
I guess this is the JCO effect… 🙂

You will be surprised to know that yesterday I had an interesting conversation with a “fellow JCO member” and we were almost talking about the same things!

What joy it is to be part of a group of same awakened, loving, crazy, rebel people :)!!! We are connected indeed.
Post Wales, I have noticed that our collectivity has gone up another level. I believe we are all connected on a Heart and Soul level. But this connection is getting stronger and stronger through JCO sessions and get together.

Yes it takes lots of courage to stand out the crowd (… you end up sometimes being called crazy or get complaints for harassment… LOL.. some crazy stuff!)
But only crazy people are bold enough to let Light enter, right?

The few lines you quoted from Rumi are my favorites and maybe it can describe what we felt during the “Big silence we shared in the kitchen in Wales around the table”…?

We are blessed to live this moment, it’s exciting and I reckon it’s gonna get bigger and better…
Thank you all (even the ones I’ve never met physically) for being who you are through this amazing journey and allow me to become myself everyday.

Big hug to you ma Belle Anna! (no harassment I promise!!!)

    Love U’

    Rajni

Thank you all for your warm comments. They really resonated and made me smile. Here are some afterthoughts about collectivity inspired by one Swamiji's Dvd's I was watching the other day.

He said that he's not asking us to invent some great spiritual practice nor to find our own way to spiritual progress or plunge into absolute unknown. He said Samarpan meditation is like a bus. The driver is there, he knows the destination, the engine is on…All we need to do is get into the bus! That's it. But we stand around wondering: Shall I ?Or maybe not? Is the driver right, is the bus good? etc….

So the last 10 years in the Samarpan outside of India went by like that…And Swamiji was really patient with us. Maybe he wanted us to slowly and gradually familiarise ourselves withe the driver, get used to that bus. Maybe 10 years is the time needed for energy just to establish itself???But now I feel this is it. The time has come for us to get in and get moving!!! That's why so many of us are talking about experiencing the shift in the energy and have a feeling of this spiritual momentum going.

We need to progress now. And to respond to this call we must really get together at the soul level, let go of all that stuff that no longer serves us once and for all and just surrender… Get proactive about our spiritual progress and put our passion for Samarpan into some sacred action and just really go for it with all our heart and full comitment.Now.

The engine is on, the bus is about to take of…and I wish to see EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of our family on it
