TOPIC FOR THE WEEK – Anushthan – A Journey of Shedding Expectations

During the 2017 period of Anusthan (45 days deep meditation period), I have had many amazing experiences. And it’s been that much more magnanimous because of the great collectivity we are accessing via the online workshops though we are still functioning in regular society. Here’s one of the many epiphanies I would like to share.

As I was getting ready to move on from a job I was in during this time, I asked a senior colleague to forgive me for any mistakes I may have made while there. He replied, “If we don’t make mistakes, how will we learn? And if someone is not making a mistake, they are also not doing the work.” This point was so transformational for me. I realized at that point how in many ways, I have been going through life expecting a perfect scenario when there’s no such thing as that. After much pontificating, I came to a great acceptance.

And then the next day, as I sat before the video workshop, I experienced a great heave and removal of a boulder like pain on the left side of the naval chakra area. Because of my overall discomfort in the naval area due to 3 bowel surgeries, I didn’t even realize there was a particular individualized pain like this. But whatever the matter, I can’t express how powerful this was to have such a dramatic removal of a pain in my home. Especially because it didn’t happen in a holy place or during a big workshop of Swamiji’s. So thank you Swamiji and thank you collectivity.
